Founded on March 2006 at Historic Filipino Town just north of the civic center Los Angeles, it is a family owned and operated business led by Rod and Susan Maranan. D’New Aristocrat began as a Filipino Fast Food Restaurant that provided dining, dancing and Karaoke for up to 120 guests. Their main fares were skillfully prepared specialty Filipino food that made them famous in the Filipino-American community of Los Angeles. | OUTSTANDING.The Maranan family, owners of D' New Aristocrat Restaurant in Panorama City, were honored with an "Outstanding Small Business" award by the United Chambers of Commerce recently at ceremonies held at the Beverly Garland Hotel in North Hollywood. ( Photo & caption by Rene Villaroman ) | With the global economic downturn looming in 2007, the family made a strategic business decision to move their venture near their home in Panorama City. Thus on May 2007, D’New Aristocrat Restaurant, with the help of the San Fernando Valley Filipino-American Chamber of Commerce and the Valley Economic Development Center, reestablished itself as D’New Aristocrat Filipino Restaurant and Bakery at the corner of Roscoe and Woodman. At the new location, they continued serving their famous Filipino cuisine in a fast food format. After a few months, they developed two new products: their now famous TURON (pronounced too-ron), a crunchy sweet banana roll, and Filipino-style baked chicken and beef empanadas, a delectable meat-filled pastry with a flaky crust. The high demand for these two new products redefined their business to new heights. Thus, D’New Aristocrat Filipino Restaurant and Bakery discontinued their on-site fast food service and concentrated instead on catering their famous Filipino dishes and mass producing their flagship TURON and EMPANADAS for distribution throughout the Greater Los Angeles area. Today, D’New Aristocrat is a very popular Filipino Food catering service and specialty food manufacturer with a long list of clients in Los Angeles, Ventura, Orange, and San Bernardino counties. Recently, the D’New Aristocrat expanded to a second business in Panorama City with an all-day Filipino Breakfast and grilled to order food at the corner of Roscoe and Ventura Canyon. This new business location is now also gaining in popularity in the local community surrounding Panorama City. As a family owned business, the entire Maranan family, led by Rod and Susan Maranan, participate in managing and operating the business. Their business success has made them a household word among the Filipino-American families and the Filipino-American community at-large in the greater Los Angeles area. And, in spite of a struggling economy, D’New Aristocrat and the entire Maranan family are a shining example of how a small business could achieve success through vision, persistence, teamwork and partnership with the Filipino-American Chamber of Commerce and partnership with the Filipino American Chamber of Commerce of San Fernando Valley. |
