San Fernando Valley Filipino American Chamber of Commerce, Making History since 2001 Rick Rolda, Leo Maranan and Joe Arciaga are the original founders of San Fernando Valley Filipino American Chamber of Commerce (SFVFACC, the official name). The DBA name is Filipino American Chamber of Commerce of San Fernando Valley (FACC-SFV). The 3 founders started the SFVFACC way back in 2001. Noel Omega joined SFVFACC in 2003 as its Public Relations Officer. Noel became the Charter Co-Founder of FACC-SFV in 2005 when he became president and incorporated the chamber. Noel was the President of the chamber from 2005 to 2007. Leo Maranan then became president from 2007 to 2009. During Leo’s term, the chamber presidency was revamped to a yearly term beginning with the next term. Rick Rolda is now the President for the presidential term 2010. FACC-SFV is proud to announce that the organization have grown tremendously in the years since its founding. FACC-SFV now has an office located at the Valley Corporate Community Center at 5121 Van Nuys Blvd., Suite 205, Sherman Oaks, Ca 91344. FACC-SFV holds several workshops, Business Mixers, Business Expo, etc. FACC-SFV is also affiliated with Valley Economic Development Center (VEDC), United Chamber of Commerce (UCC), Business Federation (BizFed), and the Asian American Chamber Association (AACA). FACC-SFV have also been actively in supporting outreach projects with our Community Partners such as the Asian Pacific AIDS Intervention Team (APAIT), Heal the Bay, the Philippine Consulate’s OAV, and most recently with the Filipino-American Census 2010 Complete Count Committee. In addition, FACC-SFV helps people who want to start a business or expand their business and assist in the Grand Opening of their businesses as well. FACC-SFV is an active member of the United Chamber of Commerce (UCC). UCC is a coalition of 32 Chamber and Business Organizations representing over 21,000 business that provide 387,000 jobs. FACC-SFV is recognized by UCC as the only ethnic (Filipino) active member of UCC. Some of our members have been awarded by UCC over the past years for Small Business Award and Medium Business Award of the Year. Such as Niño Lim of Island Pacific, Leo Maranan of American Healthcare Services, Lulu Regular Mercado of Coldwell Banker Prime Properties, Em Roberts, of WFG Team Empower & Partners, Inc., Maridy Masicat of The Travel Diva, Susan Maranan of D’New Aristocrat, Harold Wilson and Amelia Peters of Harold Wilson Insuance Co., and the most recently Luis Abiera of Amapola and Associates as the UCC Medium Business Awardee of 2010. Another highlight was when FACC-SFV was invited to join the Asian American Chamber Association (AACA) in January 2009 during Leo Maranan’s presidential term. FACC-SFV is honored to be the only Filipino Chamber member of AACA. FACC-SFV is currently on the AACA Executive Board.
On Saturday, July 31, 2010. FACC-SFV is hosting the 5th Asian Friendship Golf Tournament. The event will be held at the Robinson Ranch Golf Club, 27734 Sand Canyon Road, Santa Clarita, CA 91387. Last March 4, 2010, FACC-SFV launched this project at Hilton Universal. The event was emceed by well known media personality and Radio Manila host Awee Abayari of the First Tri-Media Group. The Kick-off event was attended by different business, representatives, donors, sponsors, government officials, Consul Generals and their officials of its respective Asian Nations and most of all the presence AACA members and guests was very evident. The Asian Friendship Golf Tournament is held annually by the Asian American Chamber Association (AACA) to promote lifelong business relationships and to be able to strengthen the relationship among Asian American Leaders in Southern California. In addition, the purpose is to create an effective networking opportunity for everyone. This event is made possible with the cooperation and support of 11 Asian American Chamber of Association (AACA), such as China, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Singapore, Mongolia, Pakistan, Cambodia, Bangladesh, Malaysia and the Philippines – and is being supported by our Philippine Consulate, Philippine Department of Tourism, and Philippine Trade and Investment Center.
